Weidmann’s Sustainable Packaging Solutions
Using our deep-rooted knowledge and experience, the Weidmann Group has been manufacturing cellulose-based fiber materials for over 140 years.
Our bio-based materials are a perfect fit with the Circular Economy model. We put the principles of the Circular Economy at the heart of our production processes through sourcing our cellulose from sustainably managed forests and re-using scraps within the production process.
Paper Packaging – the Environmental Choice
As the world becomes more and more environmentally conscious, this in turn puts pressure on businesses and consumers to embrace and value sustainable practices. One such practice is paper packaging that not only offers huge environmental benefits, but also helps businesses contribute to a greener future.
Paper offers many advantages over non-biodegradable alternatives such as plastic including:
Renewable and Biodegradable: Paper is derived from trees which are a renewable resource. It is an environmentally friendly choice as not only is it organic and breaks down naturally over time, but also it helps to reduce waste accumulation in landfills.
Reduced Environmental Impact: Paper is an eco-friendlier option compared to polluting plastics due to its high recycling rate, biodegradability, and composability. Many different grades of paper contain recycled content helping to conserve natural resources and protect ecosystems.
Adaptable: Paper can be easily moulded, folded, printed, foiled, laminated, and coated. It can be cut into various shapes and sizes, making it adaptable to different packaging needs. Whatever its application, paper provides optimal protection while still being visually appealing.
Social Responsibility: Businesses that use paper packaging are able to showcase their commitment to environmental responsibility. It can be a powerful brand awareness tool to attract customers who value sustainability.
Versatile: Paper is lightweight, easy to handle, and, when used as packaging material, often requires minimal or no additional tools for opening. This versatility is a high priority particularly for e-commerce businesses, as it reduces shipping costs and enhances the overall customer experience.
Weidmann Paper – an alternative packaging solution
Weidmann specializes in producing cellulose-based papers using our extensive knowledge of paper materials to make high quality products. Most of our products are made from 100% pulp (sourced from sustainably managed forests) and water and are manufactured using the inherent bonding properties of cellulose (hydrogen bonding), with some additional treatments in order to enhance the properties of the paper. Other paper grades can be manufactured from cotton, hemp, and other natural fibers.
Weidmann is committed to technical progress and innovation thanks to state-of-the-art diverse laboratory equipment and a global team of skilled engineers. Our research and development projects reflect changes and pressures on the industry to develop alternative paper solutions. We are constantly looking into material innovation to extend product lifecycle, enhance its versatility without sacrificing material performance.
Weidmann’s wide portfolio of papers is suitable for fashion and retail packaging, and food packaging and range in grammage from 40gsm to 900gsm. We offer tailor-made solutions to meet a broad range of packaging applications, from bespoke orders to large production runs.
This robust, hardwearing paper is ideal for packaging such as wrapping bread and buns, confectionery and food packaging for retail, and as lining paper for food products containing fat.
Glassine Paper is manufactured from 100% cellulose and therefore sustainable and compostable.
Manufactured from white cotton fibers and pulp, Uniteck is flexible and durable and can be used as environmentally friendly luxury packaging material such as fragrance boxes.
Crepe paper is produced in a variety of qualities to meet the diverse requirements of our customers. It extensibility allows for the wrapping of irregular contours, which makes it ideally suited for wrapping of irregular shapes and surfaces which cannot be achieved with Flat/Presspaper.
This strong, high-performance paper, made from unbleached pulp, is ideal for tracing template solutions such as paper patterns for the printing industry. This feature is an important element in packaging protection that requires additional robust and resilient mechanical properties.
Paper Packaging – a Step Towards Sustainability
By choosing paper for packaging applications, businesses can not only contribute to a greener future but also meet regulatory requirements, contribute towards social responsibility goals, and offer versatility to their customers. Embracing paper is a step towards a more sustainable and environmentally conscious society.
